Heartsaver® and Family & Friends®

CPR & First Aid for Everyone

Heartsaver® courses are for anyone with limited or no medical training who need a course completion card in CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory, or other requirements. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a course completion card, valid for two years.

Heartsaver® courses offer two options:

1. Entirely in-person via the links below.

2. Online blended learning.*

Online blended learning consists of an online self-paced module (about 1 hour), combined with an in-person skills test (about 1 hour).

  • Heartsaver® CPR/AED

    This course teaches...

    • Adult CPR and AED use
    • Recognize when someone needs CPR
    • Describe how to perform CPR with help from others
    • Give effective breaths using mouth-to-mouth or a mask for all age groups
    • Describe when and how to help a choking adult

    *Child and infant modules are optional.

  • Heartsaver® Pediatric CPR/AED

    This course teaches…

    • Child/Infant CPR and AED use
    • Child/Infant choking
    • First aid basics including allergic reaction, breathing problems, dehydration, burns, injury, bleeding and more
    • How to manage medical, injury and environmental emergencies

    *Adult Modules are optional

    The AHA Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED Course is designed for anyone involved in childcare who have a duty to respond to illnesses and injuries in a child or infant in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. Including: childcare workers, teachers, camp counselors, etc

    To enroll in this class, choose AHA Heartsaver CPR & AED (either adult or pediatric) from the enrollment form and choose FIRST AID as an “add-on.”

  • Heartsaver® Bloodborne Pathogens

    This course teaches...

    • How to protect yourself and others from being exposed to blood or blood-containing materials.
    • How to act quickly and safely.
    • How to clean the area that has blood or blood-containing materials.
    • How to inform your supervisor about the incident.

    This course is designed to meet Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements for bloodborne pathogens training when paired with site-specific instruction.

The Family & Friends® CPR Course is a video-based, all classroom course intended for anyone who wants to learn CPR and prefers to learn in an Instructor-led or facilitated group environment. This course is for people who do not need a course completion card for a job or other requirements.

Family & Friends® CPR is ideal for community groups, parents, grandparents, caregivers, schools and students, and others interested in learning how to save a life.
